Welcome, I’m Melanie Powell

When I was pregnant, I did everything I was told to do.
We took the hospital classes. We prepared for birth.

But no one explained how labor actually works.
No one prepared me for postpartum.
And no one told me how critical support really is.

I entered motherhood overwhelmed and unsupported—and learned the hard way that motherhood was never meant to be done alone.

Little Flower Birth Services exists so other mothers don’t have to learn that lesson through burnout or isolation.

“The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and He helps me.”
— — Psalm 28:7

WHAT HOSPITAL BIRTH CLASSES DON’T TEACH

Most birth education focuses on interventions and procedures.
Very little prepares mothers for:

  • How labor unfolds physiologically

  • The emotional and mental transition into motherhood

  • Postpartum recovery and adjustment

  • The role of ongoing support and community

Education matters—but education alone is not enough.

Why Birth & Postpartum Support Matters

Postpartum is one of the most significant transitions in a woman’s life.

When mothers are unsupported, they are more likely to feel:

  • Overwhelmed

  • Anxious

  • Isolated

  • Unprepared

Support doesn’t remove every challenge—but it changes the entire experience.

Support Rooted in Experience, Faith, and Community

I’m Melanie, a doula who does this work because I once needed it myself.

I struggled with postpartum anxiety and overwhelm after entering motherhood without support. Finding care changed my entire outlook—and showed me that support is not weakness.

It is often how God provides.

My approach is:

  • Faith-centered, not preachy

  • Grounded in lived experience

  • Focused on both birth and postpartum

  • Rooted in compassion and community

My people perish for lack of knowledge
— Hosea 4:6
Come to me, all who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest
— Matthew 11:28
Two are better than one… If one falls, the other lifts them up
— Ecclesiastes 4:9–10

Melanie's Daddy class was great! She was really well-prepared and answered all the questions I had.

She covered a bunch of different topics and explained everything clearly. It was also super helpful that she shared the material ahead of time—it made it a lot easier to take notes and keep up.
